Singlet fission

Suche

Singlet fission is a process where an exited singlet exciton is transformed to two exited triplet states. This happens due to interaction between the initially exited electron and a ground state electron. Singlet fission opens new possibilities to improve the efficiency of organic solar cells because it could double the yield of electrons per photon.

The aim of this project is to learn more about the dynamics of singlet fission at pentacene derivatives with time-resolved two-photon photoemission. The transition from the singlet to the two triplet excitons is of particular interest. But also the dependency of singlet fission from the distance and order of the pentacene molecules is in the focus of this project.

This research is part of an EFI-project of the FAU and is done in collaboration with theoretical physicists and chemists from the FAU and researchers of the Max-Planck-Institute for the Science of Light.
